MIT Energy Conference 2009 briefing session & study session

Yesterday, We held
・Briefing session for the next MIT Energy Conference in 2010
・Lecture on the clean tech business in the U.S. /the world by Dr. Masahiro Sugiyama from Central Research Institute of Electric Power Industry (電中研).

We thank Dr. Sugiyama for his keen lecture and participants for coming.

Below is the content of Dr. Sugiyama’s lecture:
Clean tech has become a huge business. Investment on clean tech (+ other resources such as water) has been increasing, and it surpassed that of IT and bio and some people predict a big revolution on clean tech. Not only the prediction, but already big changes have been observed. For example, a number of competent executives of top companies have changed their field to that of clean tech industry, such as Tesla motors and Better place. This is because energy industry is so gigantic that everyone hopes to replace their position. (For example, almost half of the Top 10 companies in terms of sales are dominated by energy companies such as Exxon Mobile, and Royal Dutch Shell.)

MIT Energy Conference 2010のホームページがオープンしました！

こんばんは、g-Enesis代表の吉田泰輔です。
ついに、MIT Energy Conference 2010のホームページがオープンしました。

今回のメイントピックは以下の7つです。
大雑把に昨年のものと比較すると、だいぶ色合いが異なるものになったと言えます。
(エネルギー技術・ビジネスの変化の激しさが現れているのかも知れません。）

特に私が注目したいのは、4つ目の「China: Energy Technology Leader」です。
途上国におけるエネルギー事情は、昨年も「Energy in Emerging Economies」として取り上げられましたが、今年は中国一国で一つのトピックが構成されています。
これはなかなか驚くべきことだと思います。

中国では、学生エネルギークラブの活動も最近盛んになってきています。今後マーケットの拡大と共に、産官学のエネルギーに対する取り組みがどう発展していくのか、見所でしょう。

Hi Everyone!
This is Hirotoshi Masuda, one of the organizers of g-Enesis.

I inform you about study session on July 21st.

We invited Kenichi Kato, representative director of PEACEWAVE, and he gave us a productive day.
He has a lot of experience, for instance, studying in US, researching in Taiwan, working at NGO, and now business manager. It was a quite good opportunity for us to meet such a fascinating person who has a lot of energy.

His contents were composed of two topics, one was his company relating to eco japan cup and the other was his experience.

we organize study session once a month.

MIT Energy Conference 2010

こんばんは、代表の吉田泰輔です。
先日、ついにMIT Energy Conference 2010の日程が発表されました！
(今年度は2010年3月6、7日に行われます。昨年度と同じ日程になったようですね。）

MIT Energy Conferenceは、MIT（マサチューセッツ工科大学）の学生が中心となって開催しているエネルギーに関する国際会議です。毎年、政治家や大学教授、大企業、ベンチャーキャピタル等から多くの人が集まり、次世代エネルギー技術及びビジネスモデルについて議論を行っています。

米国のボストンで行われるため、通常日本人参加者はあまり居ません。
しかし、私達東京大学エネルギークラブ（g-Enesis）からは、毎年このConferenceに学生を派遣しています。

昨年度は4名が参加し、欧米で進むエネルギー革命の最前線を目にし、各界のリーダー達とネットワークを構築してきました。今年度も、4名の派遣を予定しています。
参加者は、学内から広く公募したいと思っていますので、追加の告知をお待ち下さい！

Fundamental study and Innovation

Hello everyone,

My name is Yoshihisa Hirano, one of the comittee members of genesis.
I am the first year of master of engineering program at the Department of Chemical System Engineering of Todai.

My main research at the lab is "Self-organization of nano particles".
(as the second research I study hydrogen storage & carriage for fuel cell vehicles)
Perhaps most of you would respond,
"What's self-...something? Is that really a research for the energy problem?"
My answer would be, "Absolutely no. It's a fundamental research".
In the lab I dry up water droplets that contains tiny particles, and observe how their structure changes as drying continues .
That's all my research.
